Harry reached for his wand, but Severus beat him to it.
"Allow me," he said, levitating the star up to the top of the Christmas tree and jostling it into position.
"It's perfect." Harry stood behind Severus, wrapping his arms around him. He rested his chin on Severus's shoulder. "Thank you."
Severus caught his hand and kissed each finger. "Sentimental brat."
"Can I help it if you're my star?"
"Your pick-up lines are sorely in need of improvement." Severus began to suck on Harry's finger. "At least I know you won't be going out and trying to pick up some young –"
"Never." Harry kissed the nape of Severus's neck, tonguing it and blowing over the wet skin to make him shiver. "Why would I want someone other than you?"
He clapped a hand over Severus's mouth, preventing him from answering. "Never mind that now."
Harry rocked his hips against Severus, pushing him over to the overstuffed armchair. "Want to start a new tradition?"
"Disgusting pet nicknames delivered from an obnoxious brat who only wants sex? I thought that was already a tradition."
Sitting in Severus's lap, Harry kissed him to silence. "Yes, and you love it – now fuck me."

When Harry ducked behind a tree, dodging the Weasley twin's snowballs, he ran straight into Professor Snape.
They landed in a jumble, Snape's beak of a nose poking Harry's cheek, and Harry's scarf tangled up in Snape's buttons.
"Sorry, sir."
Snape stared at him, and then brushed the snow off Harry's shoulders. "I suppose there's a good reason for you to have stayed for the holidays, rather than returning to the loving bosom of your fawning family."
"Sorry?"
"Never mind." Snape warmed Harry with a charm, melting a circle in the snow. "Happy Christmas, Potter. Don't stay out too long."

There was holly hung in every nook and cranny, ivy coiled down the archways and over the piano, and a forest of poinsettias spread throughout the room. Harry twitched the garlands into place just as the door opened.
"Severus – what did the mediwitch say?"
Severus shook the snow off his cloak before hanging it up. "That I needed rest, free from the pestering of obnoxious brats."
"Is that right?" Harry backed Severus into the wall and pointed up at the ball of mistletoe. "I decorated for the season. Does that count as pestering?"
"Ridiculous holiday frippery," Severus said, but he kissed Harry and let him lead the way to the bedroom. "I suppose that's acceptable."
Harry plucked up a garland of ivy and twisted it into a crown for Severus – it was sent to the floor and Incendio'ed before it even touched Severus's head. "Don't overdo it, Potter."
"I just think that our first Christmas without Voldemort and intensive care at St. Mungo's should be something special, that's all."
Severus caught him and kissed him again. "Don't put so much store on nonsense, you idiot boy. Get the chocolate sauce and the whipped cream and we'll have a real celebration."
