It's quarter past three in the morning, just as it always is when Harry comes down the stairs and joins Percy in front of the fire. There are only embers left, but there's just the two of them, and so Percy doesn't add another log. Firelight and shadows suit Harry, hiding the wrinkles and creases of the everyday and tedious.

It's easier when Percy's alone with Harry – easier to be with him when there's no Molly to make sweeping pronouncements, no Arthur to tinker with what should be left alone. Ginny and her jealousy are gone, and so is George, who needs more than Harry can give – more than anyone can give.

The war is over, and Harry's been a hero long enough. Percy stretches out by the fire next to him, asking nothing of him. The two of them are there together, and that's enough.

The firelight glints off Harry's glasses and makes his eyes shine – he looks at Percy, really looks at him, and it's as though he sees something the rest of the Weasleys never bothered to see. He takes a deep breath and leans against Percy, all but collapsing against him.

It's only seconds before Harry's falling asleep, his breath warm on Percy's neck. He trusts Percy, to sleep like this, and he always says that he sleeps better by the fire than he does in his bed.

Percy shifts, making his shoulder more comfortable for Harry. It's half past three in the morning, and the two of them have only just found their space, only now gotten comfortable. The warmth and the weight of Harry pressed against Percy's side is enough to make him want to sleep, too – but he can sleep in his bed, unlike Harry, and he can sleep late in the morning. This is worth more.

Harry sighs and shifts in his sleep, curling closer to Percy. The grandfather clock ticks along, keeping its own steady pace, and the fire crackles, and Percy rests his head against Harry's. He can't stay awake. He falls asleep before the clock chimes four, just as he always does, safe and warm with Harry.
