Dark magic swirls around Severus like a tempest. Lightning arcs between his fingertips, and the storm sings through his soul. It is glorious, and he sates himself on it.
Locket, cup, ring and sword – metal melts at his glance. The snake writhes and shudders in an electric current, her tail lashing as she dies. The ruined book burns, crumbling to ashes.
Severus turns to Potter – the foolish Gryffindor lured to adventure like a hapless moth, easy to capture, easy to burn. "Well?"
Potter is silent, trembling before him, pale against the darkness.
"Go," Severus says. "Complete my collection for me."
