Random question about DH - spoilers

So, this is really random, but I was walking onto campus this morning, thinking about Snape's patronus. Why does he have a female patronus? Do all of the characters have a patronus that's the same gender as they are? I know it's easier to tell with the stag-doe difference, so it's obvious that Harry and James have male Patronuses (Patroni?) while Lily has a female one ... while the gender of say, Hermione's otter, is not so obvious.

Obviously Snape wouldn't want a stag because that would remind him of James and not Lily, and he hated James. Does he have a doe because his love is unrequited? Or ... does Snape have a female Patronus, a cute and cuddly doe, because this is the "softer side of Snape" (TM)?

Also, sorry about the lack of morning drabbles - I got caught up in finishing another ficlet and ran out of time. I'll do them this evening, and if you want to leave some prompts here, I'll even do some extras to make up for being late (in other words, feel free to ask if you already have a request in the queue).

Also, very sad this morning. I did a Very Cool Experiment yesterday, that I'd been waiting to do for weeks and hadn't been able to do for one reason after another ... and it's a simple experiment, just some transformations. Did everything, came in this morning - yup, I put the plates at the wrong temperature. *sigh*
