Sirius left a paper trail, a merry false dance for Lily, and doubled back to the dormitories.
James was waiting for him, curtains drawn across the windows to turn the tower into a shadowy cave. Torchlight flickered across his face, highlighting brow and cheekbones.
"Lily's gone," Sirius said. "She'll be chasing her tail all afternoon."
"Good," James said. He flicked his wand in the air, a sharp jab that filled the room with loud, jazzy music, and opened the Firewhiskey.
"Come." He pulled Sirius into a kiss, drawing him down onto the bed. "They'll never hear us through the music."
