Sep. 12th, 2007 08:04 amHave you ever felt the thrill of discovering an older story, one that you'd never read before? Have you ever had your day brightened by a comment on one of your old stories? It's love, isn't it?
phoenix_flies is hosting a read-n-love-athon, with the focus of reading, commenting, and recc'ing older stories! With the move from LJ to IJ/GJ, many of us have transferred our stories to new homes ... but the wonderful comments were left behind, and some of those stories are looking pretty lonely now. We're going to take a step toward fixing that this upcoming weekend - it doesn't matter if you've read it ten thousand times or ten times (or never), find it here at its new home and read it! You may have commented on LJ, and told the author how much you loved it then ... but you still love it, and you needn't be afraid to say so again!
Sign-ups run through Friday (1pm EST), and you must sign up to have your comments counted and be eligible for prizes ... so please, go and sign up! Pimp this to your flists! Read! Comment! Overuse exclamation marks! Love!

1.phoenix_flies Friending Frenzy has started - hopefully it will go on through the weekend, and so hop on over and make some old friends, meet some new friends, and have fun! And please pimp it for us!
2.snarry_holidays sign ups are still open - are you sure you don't want to consider it?
3. After using up all of my willpower resistingsmutmas and harry_holidays, I caved and signed up for hpslashnotsmut. *sigh* I thought that signupitis had gone away, and I thought that I would be good, but no ... anyhow, sign-ups close today if you want to think about that, too.
4. For those of you who haven't seen this linked a thousand times already, you should check it out! It really is hilarious!
5. And let me leave you with a rec before I dash off to get some things done this morning:magnetic_pole's "Don't Look Back in Anger" series. It starts here and she's posted four parts of ten so far. It's brilliant, an absolute must-read if you love Snape! It starts with a fabulous hook: "There was only one way to enter the headmaster's office: head held high, wand poised, ready to strike." and continues in that brilliant vein. Such an amazing look at Snape's character ... you really must go read it and tell her to post the next part before I go crazy. :D
6. Oh, and before I actually leave you, a gentle poke to my flist - I think I'll be finishing up a couple of things this weekend, if all goes as planned, and might need some beta help. They aren't my usual pairings, so I can't exactly ask my usual Snarry betas ... but if you've some spare time on your hands and are willing to read outside the OTP, maybe you could help me? *puppy dog eyes*

I will be on LJ somewhat through the rest of the month though, there are some prompts that I have to finish out and etc. I will mostly be checking the flist here, though ... keeping up with 3 flists is too much. If you're intending to post mostly elsewhere, would you be kind enough to let me know so that I know where to follow your posts?

Aug. 10th, 2007 03:48 pmcrucio_4_coffee and I are organizing a fest to help ease the transition that many of us are making from LJ to GJ and IJ - The Phoenix Flies, here at IJ, and here at GJ. Get involved in your new fandom homes with a no-stress fest (short fics, 500-5000 words, easy deadlines, het/slash/gen/anything goes). There will be several side-events - two friending frenzies, to help you find old friends and make new friends, a read-n-loveathon where you can read all your favorite old fics and tell the authors how much you love them in their new homes, and a drabble-athon to spark the muses.
We'll be taking prompts from 13/8/07 to 19/8/07, having sign-ups from 20/8/07 to 26/8/07, and posting from 27/8/07 to 31/10/07, so start watching
