The mirror melted into Harry's skin and he became quicksilver, moving through it. When he stopped and stepped through, his glasses fell and clinked on the dungeon floor.

Harry didn't fumble for them – he went straight to Severus instead.

Kneeling by the bed, half-blind and half-breathless, he felt the wounds, smoothed out the torn flesh and held it together. Severus's blood pulsed under his fingertips.

Light flashed from the mirror, haloing Severus. He was dark against quicksilver, and it was time.

Harry kissed the hollow of Severus's throat and uncorked the vial of phoenix tears. Severus would be whole again.
