Harry had never hung a stocking before. He hesitated in front of the fireplace and then reached up, hooking the stocking on a nail next to Draco's.

Barefoot, he padded back to bed. He was a grown man – old enough to know that though dragons and doxies were real, Saint Nicholas was only a myth.

Fairy stories are for lovers and dreamers, Draco said when Harry scoffed at his stocking. You never know.

Harry curled himself around Draco, thrusting his feet deeper under the covers. Draco in his arms, the goose-down duvet – that was enough.

Knowing could wait until morning.
