Dear Yuletide Author

(First, OMG, Yuletide! Yay! But getting my assignment made me realize that I had not yet posted a Yuletide letter, so let me postpone my squee until later - or direct it toward the ginger cake I'm going to try to make again - and go on and do that. In between trips to the kitchen to carry on with the baking.)
I love you, I love you, I love you. I may (or may not) already know you, but I love you for tackling one of my crazy-rare fandoms, and I will love anything you write to absolute pieces.
In general, I just want to say that you should go with the story that you want to write, and not worry about anything that I say - I'll be beside myself with glee at the fact that there's a new story in one of these fandoms, that's all that I could ever want for Yuletide. But I know that some people like a little more in the way of prompts than that, so here goes!
A lot of what I like and dislike in general (and for some fandoms in particular) can be found here, so that's always a place to go if you have questions about whether I like tentacle-porn (no) or infidelity (yes).
I'm not super-fussed about plot (or pwp, either) - in general, I like character-driven pieces more than anything else. Showing how a character evolves or changes is absolute win; showing how they achieve forgiveness or redemption will make my heart turn into a pile of goo on the floor. If there is to be plot, I like plot too - or pwp, if that's what you like to write! I'm definitely not averse to either; the thing is, I really enjoy a good story, no matter what it is or what it's about. This goes for everything that I say, to be honest - for anything here, I could probably name a story that I've read and loved, but which doesn't fit into what I normally consider kinks or squicks.
Sherwood Smith - Wren series: Connor/Tess/Tyron/Wren
Prefer no hard kinks or character death; would love to see adventuring, magic lessons, and the characters growing up. To be honest, I would prefer gen or het for this one (I think Wren and Connor are *adorable* together), but on the other hand, I always love slash, too. :)
If you didn't figure it out from my sign-up, I love this fandom. You probably signed up to write something different than this, and maybe you've never heard of it, but I will be in my own little world, where I pretend that everybody else loves these books as much as I do. I mean, what's not to love? There's adventuring, and mountains, and orphanages, and magic, and ohhhh, the characters are so great! Wren's just buckets and buckets of fun, and I think I had crushes on both Tyron and Connor when I read these books as a child. I love the bit where Connor catches up with Wren and Tyron in the first book, and convinces them to let him come with them on their quest! And I love how brave and indomitable Wren's spirit is, and how loyal she is.
This is, really, something of a children's book for me, since I was so young when I read it first. I'd be a bit surprised to read anything terribly porny about these characters, I think, mostly because I think of them as being so young. I'm not a huge fan of chan, but I wouldn't object to seeing sexual situations developing when the characters were older.
Julian May - Exiles Saga and Galactic Milieu: Elizabeth Orme/Marc Remillard
Would love to see something set after the end of Exiles Saga - I love Marc as a multidimensional character. Also love: metaphysical abilities, forgiveness, redemption, and healing. Wouldn't mind an AU where the Rebellion never happened, either.
There is just something so romantic about Marc's character and the way he spent six million years atoning for the mistakes that he made. What I'd really love to see is a glimpse of that time, but I'd love anything focused on Marc, really. Bonus points for including Catholicism and the Remillards speaking French, because <3333.
I am also not a really huge fan of incest, so it would be okay by me if we didn't have to think too much about Marc/Cynthia - I never really got Cynthia as a character, anyhow. Also not a super-huge fan of Hydra, Fury, Victor, or any of the ways of killing people with your brain. :P I do love Denis/Lucille, Paul/Teresa, and Marc/Elizabeth - there's something about the way the Remillard men deal with their sexuality that's kind of fascinating, from Denis's cluelessness to Paul's promiscuity and Marc's repression. I love the Remillards in general, particularly Anne and Rogi and the aforementioned couples, so a gen fic focused on them would make me happy, too - midnight mass on Christmas Eve? SO much <333.
The Big Bang Theory: Sheldon Cooper
Wouldn't mind seeing the quartet of boys together, but I mostly just want to see Sheldon being his geeky charming OCD self. :) Science geekiness and glow-in-the-dark goldfish and trips to the comic book store a plus. :)
I am a huge science geek, so really, this TV show is soooo much <3333. One of my favorite things about it, though, is how scientifically accurate it is, so please know what you're talking about if you decide to talk about science. Or at least look it up on Wikipedia. :)
Pairing-wise, I'm cool with: Sheldon/Leonard, Sheldon/Leslie, Sheldon/Penny (if not sappy and Mary-Sue-ish), Leonard/Penny, Howard/Raj. Other ships would be okay, too, or gen of course!
Would love to see something about Sheldon's childhood - his relationship with his mother is so interesting. I will white this bit out because it's recent enough to be spoilery still: the recent episode where he freaked out about the Leonard/Penny argument and the implication of what his home life was like absolutely fascinates me in terms of a glimpse into his character, and I'd love to see some more elaboration on that. I am not hugely in the camp of the people who diagnose Sheldon as someone with Asperger's Syndrome; for starters, he's a fictional character, and for seconds, even if he seems to closely fit a diagnosis that you can find with Google - well, I'm not a psychiatrist, and most of the people making that diagnosis aren't, either. So I'd rather see him as a real, interesting but flawed character, and not as a clinical case. He's quirky, and OCD, and charming, and funny, and I love all of those things about him.
Tamora Pierce - Tortall series: Daine Sarrasri/Numair Salmalin
Prefer not to receive character death, hard kinks, magical creatures, or student/teacher relationship (a relationship when they are no longer student/teacher is fine). Love magic, adventuring, and romance.
Rereading this, it looks like I'm saying "love magic" instead of "I love magic," which just goes to show that I shouldn't carelessly drop pronouns all over the place. Not that I'm objecting to love magic, either, although I'm not sure how well it fits into what we know from the magic of this world.
For Tamora Pierce, I mostly like the Lionness Quartet and the Immortals series - not a huge fan of her more recent works, and wouldn't necessarily consider them canon. I'd be equally happy to read about Alanna and Jon as I would be about Daine and Numair, come to think of it, but I do love Daine like crazy - she's such a great character. Would love to see her in a romantic relationship with Numair, or in a gen fic where they're teacher/student - either would be lovely. I have to say that I'm not too crazy about the shapeshifting into animals thing, but it's not like, a squick or anything. Provided that there isn't any bestiality going on, in which case it would be a squick, but hopefully that is just one of those things that you won't want to write, either!
Okay, now I will go back to the kitchen and see if I can scrounge enough sugar to make some pumpkin bread. And squee (quietly) about Yuletide while finishing off my gingerbread dinner with gingerbread dessert. :D
