By the time I had got home and had some dinner, I was feeling better enough to tackle the recs post that I'd been meaning to make! (Comment porn later, when I'm feeling poorly again - thanks for the prompts, guys! <3)

Fest season has been a blast, even though it's been a little challenging to keep up with it all! Here's my recs so far ... keep in mind that I'm not necessarily caught up with every fest just now, so this is not necessarily complete.

Best Mates Xmas

A Christmas Miracle: Of Owls and Socks by [personal profile] tqpannie (Harry/Ron, NC-17): A brilliant "voice" to this story, and I think it captures the fumbling of Harry and Ron perfectly - they can both be rather awkward, and Harry's gift of "socks" is inspired, here, in the way that it illustrates that. Plus? Some really hot make-up sex ... who wouldn't want that for Christmas?

The Contest by anon (Harry/Ron, NC-17): Hilarious and hot and just amazing ... with an assortment of fabulous metaphors for your added reading pleasure. :)

HP Holiday Gen

Percy and Hermione bond over work (Percy, Hermione, Ron, Molly, G) by anon - A charming character study - beautiful and funny!

HD Holidays

Observations by anon (Harry/Draco, R) - a fabulous plotty Auror story, with lovely building UST and a sweet ending

Secretary Tuesdays or: Things Unspoken by anon (Harry/Draco, PG): One of those exciting Auror fics, but this one's got a more grown up Harry (I do just love it when he's no longer the hothead who's dashing off at the least provocation) and a lovely clever Draco ... and snarky Snape cameos for added love!

The Art of Telling a Lie by anon (Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione, NC-17): This one plays straight into my love of stories with brilliant endings. Brilliantly written and deftly told - a tear-jerker without being soppy or sentimental.

RS Small Gifts

Cold Feet by [personal profile] brighty18 (Remus/Sirius, PG-13): It's hard to write R/S interlude stories (by "interlude," I mean the period of time between Sirius's escape from Azkaban and ... welllll, we won't mention what happens, will we?) But therein lies the problem: how much do you mention? How much do you foreshadow? This story manages to perfectly balance the bleakness of what has been and what will be with holiday cheer and tenderness.

A Lack of Christmas Spirit by [profile] dogsunderfoot (Remus/Sirius, NC-17): A completely charming bit of Christmas joy. I especially love the realism of their interactions here - it's by no means a perfect, no-quarrels-ever relationship, but watching them come to an accord is lovely.

Stealing Christmas by [profile] epithalamium002 (Remus/Sirius, PG): Absolutely stunning - gorgeous lines that manage to evoke so much emotion

**Defense Tactics by [profile] dear_tiger (Remus/Sirius, PG-13): This is such a yearning, haunting thing, with vivid details and clever images that really make the story come alive. The use of imagery is brilliant, and the characterization is excellent, and the only thing I was sorry about was the fact that it wasn't longer. Small gifts, I know, but this one leaves you wanting so much more.

Of Tables, Trees, and Hog's Heads by [personal profile] liseuse (Remus/Sirius, R): A charming Christmas celebration, where the boys are domestic and Remus is put-upon, and much fun is had by all ... including the reader!

Joy by [profile] westwardlee (Remus/Sirius, R): Sometimes holiday traditions can come off as being a bit schmaltzy or overdone, but that's definitely not the case with this fic: here it's bittersweet and poignant and perfect.

Looking West by [profile] zeladestry (Remus/Sirius, PG): Excellent use of Stubby Boardman, and a great character piece ... Remus and Sirius are perfect and their affection for each other is so sweet.

Smutty Claus

Throwdown by anon (Harry/Tonks, NC-17): An excellent Harry voice here, and it's also super-hot, humorous, and fun.

Snupin Santa

Terrific Two's Summer of Mystery! by anon (Remus/Severus, NC-17): technically speaking, a camping fic - but this is the sort of camping fic that is vivid, and delightfully textured, and makes you want to take a hike in the great outdoors, yourself ... with the hope of catching a glimpse of Remus and Severus, of course. :)

You Only Live Twice by anon (Remus/Severus, Charlie/Tonks, PG-13): Delightfully fun! This one is a riot the whole way through, and brought a much-needed smile to my face.

Snapelyholidays

A Haunting Past by anon (Lily/Severus/Remus, NC-17): Such a lovely framed narrative - I think that the frame really suits this piece, actually, it adds just the right tone. And it sets off all the hottness in the middle section very nicely! :)

A Holiday with Old Friends: This is just gorgeous - fic and art equally so - and they complement each other beautifully. (Snape/Lupin, PG)

Yule Balls

The Magic of Christmas by anon (Remus/Bill, Remus/Severus/Bill, NC-17): Snape as Santa Claus ... what other reason do you need to read a fic?

**The Dreams We Forget (Are Those We Most Regret) by anon (Snape/Harry, Harry/Ginny, Hermione/Ron, NC-17): This is beautifully written, and pokes sooooo many of my bullet-proof kinks (forced marriage, infidelity, fairy tales) that I was an incoherent, flaily flaily thing for hours after reading it. Hours, I tell you. This is not one to be missed!
