Ten Thoughts about NaNo

1. Eeep. Already?

2. I have a plot! In the time-honored tradition of authors everywhere, I am stealing someone else's plot. *g*

3. I have characters! Yay!

4. Setting .... ummm .... help? I think a setting would be a nice thing to have ...

5. I have cheated and have written down my first sentence ... it came to me when I was walking home from the bus, and it was just too good to lose. I had no choice! *snuggles first sentence*

6. I have lots of coffee ... oh, lots of coffee. The coffee is ready for NaNo...

7. Someone's offered to adopt me, yay! And I have a lot of friends doing it too, so I think there will be lots of mutual encouragement and help... yay!

8. Sadly, I have to give lab meeting in the last week of November, so that pretty much wipes out that week. I might get a little writing done, but I can't count on it ... so the 1667 words/day thing needs to be upped. I can't do math ... *bats eyelashes* ... 50000 over 21? Something?

9. At some point during November, probably when I have lost all hope, I am going to post my reversathon fic (finally) and remind myself that I *can* write 50k. I can!

10. Right, this one probably goes without saying, but ... I'm going to be busy writing this month! So ... this translates into not-a-lot of LJ/IJ time, not-a-lot of chat, not-a-lot of anything but writing. Sometimes I may unplug from the internet entirely *gasp*. I'll be available for modly stuff, of course, but everything else might get postponed until December.

I won't be writing or reading a lot of fandom stuff, and I'll probably not manage to catch up on everything when I get back. If you have something that you especially want me to read, please link me. If you have something that you desperately want me to beta ... please ask someone else instead of making me feel guilty. If you want to beg for updates to one of my stories ... please be understanding of the fact that I probably won't have time (and please don't make me feel guilty). If you're one of the people on my late-bday-ficlet list ... well, you'll still be on that list in December, only I'll be writing for fandom again in December.

I heart you all muchly and I'm sure I won't be able to survive in a NaNo cocoon for an entire month without you... but I haven't written original fic in *ages*, and I'm omg-so-freaking excited about it! I'll heart you all muchly in December too, I'm sure. :)

You may need your AIM more than you realize come week two. Word sprints. That's how you survive week two. I'm pretty sure I would have chucked my laptop out my window last year if I didn't do those sprints.

Yes, clearly ... but why oh why do I feel like we distract each other as often as we help each other?

On the other hand, I can be distracted very well without AIM too ... lol :)

w00t for characters and plot! I have those, too (thank God), even though there is a new plot-bunny gnawing on my brain that I will ignore. Setting ... well ... I have no idea what you could use as a setting, since I don't know where your story will be going. My characters are going on a holiday. :P

Holiday ... yes, a good idea. That's probably a better setting than 19th century Vienna 19th century England 1980s America ... lol :)

I still need a plot! I have the characters and the setting, but the plot is a bit iffy. Nothing seems to fit.

Something tells me I'm going to be using AIM to get me focused on writing. Or for encouragement. *nods*
