Pick-a-century

I am not really sure where my pre-coffee ideas were coming from, but I have decided to abandon the 17th/18th century and go for the 19th century. I think I might go for this opera house, but I'm not 100% convinced about it yet. Given my flyaway sentences and paragraphs, it's also quite possible that the setting will never be explicitly mentioned. I've had sugar, and so I'm okay with that.
I have yet to find any sort of author search function on the website, and it's absolutely the slowest freaking thing I've ever had the misfortune to know ... well, by "ever" I mean since the days of modems and blah-blah-blah, computer things.... so here is a link direct to my profile, so feel free to add me as a friend if you like. I will probably post excerpts and such there, once I stop trying to kick the server.
It's turned out to be a great thing that I ended up writing original fic and not fanfic, since a couple of rl people have found out about NaNo already -- one of my close friends I told, and another girl saw me writing on the bus and asked about it. A wants to see a draft of it when I'm finished, but I'm not sure that it's a great idea ... I mean, is it? We'll see ... I wouldn't feel exactly comfortable about it, and I'm almost certain to have written something that will shock her.
Anyhow, I'd best be back to writing ... I'd like to get past 2000 today. :)

Date: 2007-11-02 04:06 am (UTC)Oh yes, it's a good idea on the original fiction end. I've been taken to writing my novel on a piece of printer paper during work and I rather get caught with original than fanfic, you know? Have your friend wait until December when it's editing time. *g*

Date: 2007-11-02 09:56 am (UTC)At the moment I'm sitting in one of my university's cafeterias and to my shame I have to admit that I haven't written a word for NaNo yet. *hangs head in shame*
About rl people reading the story: Last year I wrote in English for NaNo and I have yet to give the story to my friends. I know for sure that what I wrote will shock them, which is why my family hasn't read it yet, especially since I have included pretty detailed sex-scenes. XD Not sure if I'll be able to keep them out - I'm not even sure if I want to.
Okay, now I need to write something, quickly.
P.S.: The opera house looks cool!

Date: 2007-11-17 03:57 pm (UTC)Hey, at least you have a working title, you know? I'm still, you know... not sure what genre mine should be, much less what I should call it ... but hey, we're both making good progress and it's going to be fabulous in the end, oh yes. I can be so optimistic when I haven't had my morning coffee yet, lol!

Date: 2007-11-18 12:35 am (UTC)I labeled my story with "Romance" even though it's more like a mixture. There certainly is romance, but not that chick-lit romance, and there's drama and a good deal or ranting and whining. Romance probably is the best label for it.
