YAY! All right, I have my computer back (which is made of SO much awesome I can't even describe it), and everything is working ... except Firefox, which is being a bit strange.

I can't get my bookmarks toolbar back, even though the bookmarks I want on it are still in the bookmarks toolbar folder, and I can't reinstall my del.icio.us buttons. Also, the bottom part of the window (the gray bar at the bottom) is larger than usual, and I can't change the size of it ... it's reducing the size of the actual window, and driving me half-mad. I flounced off and looked at IE, but I hate it. :(

I tried reinstalling and that did me absolutely no good at all. Anyone got a clue as to what's wrong and how I can fix it? Please?

Help?

My computer is driving me mad ... please help? Pretty please, with chocolate martinis on top?

For some reason, I can't move any items on the desktop (Windows XP). I can't drag and drop them into other places, I can't move them or rearrange them ... I can't do anything other than double-click them.

I have "Auto Arrange" and "Lock Web Items on Desktop" UNCHECKED under "Arrange Icons By" ... I have done some rudimentary googling and have tried the solutions proposed here and here, but that didn't help.

Please? Any computer-savvy people? It's driving me to absolute distraction!

Edit: Fixed! Not entirely sure what was going on, but I think that defragmenting the drive and rebooting seems to have solved the problem! *keeps fingers crossed, just in case*

Am recovering from my weekend of utter laziness and unproductivity, and have even started to write again. Cleaning the apartment and reading papers falls much, much lower on the list of things-to-do at the moment. *g* Am working on the [insanejournal.com profile] thematic_hp story, with the [insanejournal.com profile] hp_tarot story to follow ... or vice versa, it doesn't matter much really.

Anyhow. I have a question, and it's probably a dumb question (although hopefully not as random and strange as the guy who asked about metastasis during the microbiology seminar about biofilms), but I'm too sleepy to figure it out myself and I figure one of y'all might know, because you guys are great. *hugs*

So. If a person - say, for example, Severus - happened to swear two Unbreakable Vows that were in direct contradiction with one another - say, for example, to kill Albus and to save Albus's life - what would happen? Would Severus die no matter what he did? Or would it not be an issue because the first Vow that he swore would take precedence and not permit him to swear the second Vow? How would the first Vow know what the second Vow was about - I mean, it's not exactly sentient, is it? Or is it?
