Severus never said her name again.

They were more than friends. She held him in the palm of her hand – she was his only friend. He had nothing else.

He was set against her gold, weighed and judged as base iron. He was hard and brittle, an unworthy metal.

His hands trembled, but his wand was steady. He would protect her son.

His memories were spread out in black and white for the world to ridicule. He had kept her – had treasured her as his secret, as a flower in his hands. Everything was laid bare.

Lily was not his.

I know i have an account here but i forgot about it, but I'll look it up and post a review under it. I liked this especially the line about

"He was set against her gold, weighed and judged as base iron. He was hard and brittle, an unworthy metal." I think thats how unfortunately many people saw him and thats what makes it even sadder. Lovely, babe.

Such a perfectly concise way of describing the Severus/Lily tragedy. I especially like the "metal" line, 'cause it makes me think of the homophone metal/mettle, and it enhances the meaning.
