Do you know how sometimes good things happen at an absolutely perfect time? ... That happened to me this week when my [insanejournal.com profile] hp_cross_fest gift was posted - and goodness, was it ever perfect. :D :D :D

I'd been having the crummiest day week past two weeks, and stressing out over this, that, and the other thing. I haven't had half a chance to just breathe, lately, and it's been pretty rough going.

But sometimes, good things happen with perfect timing, and that's what happened to me. I got this absolutely amazing gift over at [insanejournal.com profile] hp_cross_fest, and it entirely changed my day - lifted my spirits and made everything seem so much better. It's sweet and funny and hot - it has two of my favorite pairings and so many of my kinks. Unrequited love - OMG, the unrequited love! and jealousy and misunderstanding and such a lovely, happy ending! Severus is perfect and Harry is perfect and Albus is just adorable. It is absolutely amazing - and it isn't just the serendipitous timing, honestly. Go check it out ... I think you'll love it just as much as I do. :D

Mrs Scamander and the Unusual Courtship by [insanejournal.com profile] iulia_linnea (Lunucious and other pairings, NC-17) - Luna is just delightful - perfectly captured here and an absolute joy to read - and the twists and turns of this courtship are brilliant!

Take Me Down by [insanejournal.com profile] shellydkitty (Draco/doll, Harry/Draco, NC-17) - Shelly's debut fic over at [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant, and what a debut it is! Hot and deviant and absolutely wonderful!

The Penitent by [insanejournal.com profile] coffee_n_cocoa (Snape, Neville, R) - not a pairing that I would normally read, but damn! This really packs a punch ... haunted me all day, it did, and I'm still thinking on it. Brilliantly written story!

Second Chances by anon at [insanejournal.com profile] weasley_fest (Ron/Harry, other pairings, R) - lovely, plotty, LONG story! Really enjoyed the way the story was constructed and the whole is just love. <3

[insanejournal.com profile] nest_of_spiders is running again this August! Daily prompts! I'm SO excited ... it was a tonne of fun last year!

[insanejournal.com profile] snarry_holidays has got the sign-up templates posted and will start sign-ups on August 5th!

Ficses!

I got home really late last night, and didn't have time to squee about these before I collapsed - but look! There is fic for me! *grins like a mad thing* [insanejournal.com profile] iulia_linnea wrote After (Severus/Lily, PG) , [insanejournal.com profile] celandineb wrote Estimation (Percy, G) and [insanejournal.com profile] unbroken_halo wrote Season of Giving (Bill/Neville, G) for me! Eeeee, I have such lovely friends! *glomps* :D :D :D

I also want everyone to know how very, very excited I am about this year's round of [insanejournal.com profile] snarry_holidays - rules and FAQ here! Or here, as we're mirroring on LJ this year. The awesomeness is about to begin!

Also, Terminus is in... some number of days. Once upon a time, I was able to do basic math, like counting and arithmatic, and all, but alas, those days are long gone. I shall have to rely on the brilliant and very organized [insanejournal.com profile] nqdonne to make sure that I get to the airport on the correct day because dude, I'm going to be living with her in two days! Wheee!

That said, I should get off my butt and finish my packing... *sigh*, I hate moving. :(

Before I go, let me link you to my [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant fic for this month, which was posted last night (with a little help from my friends! <3). It's Every Pleasure and it's Severus, Harry/Teddy, R. There are some warnings that you might want to read, but they're a little spoilery for the story itself, so I won't copy them here. :)
lesyeuxverts: (Default)
My [insanejournal.com profile] percy_ficathon gift has been posted, and it's incredible! Complicated (Percy/Teddy, PG-13/R) ... YES, someone wrote Percy/Teddy for me! And it's AMAZING! Brilliant story with brilliant characterization and OMG, you simply must read it to understand exactly how wonderful it is! Go on, now! :D
lesyeuxverts: (Remus Sirius)
[insanejournal.com profile] westernredcedar, who is an absolute sweetheart, wrote me this double-drabble: Grey for absolutely no reason at all, and that just brightened my day up immensely. :) :) :) It's Remus/Sirius (with a perfect Sirius, omg I love him so much), PG, and you should definitely go and read it and tell her how awesome she is!

In other news, [insanejournal.com profile] snapenews is looking for an editor to fill the Friday slot! If you love Snape and have some free time on Friday nights, you should consider applying ... it's tonnes of fun, and whenever I do it, I always manage to find lovely Snape fic and art that I wouldn't see otherwise.

In other other news ... if you haven't seen the post we made a few days back, let me point you to it. The schedule for this year's Snarry Holidays is posted! Mark it down on your calendar if you're at all interested in Snape and Harry!

In completely unrelated news, I cannot believe that Latin isn't part of the required curriculum at Hogwarts starting from day one. Or sooner, even. All of the declensions and conjugations and different tenses make my head spin ... and if you're a wizard trying to cast a spell and you get it wrong? Eeeep! I am still on simple sentences and can't figure out how the damned declensions work ... it's not hardly fair that three of them look absolutely identical! :P

You guys, I HAVE FIC! My [insanejournal.com profile] hp_traditions gift was posted while I was gone, and it is perfect beyond words. Honestly, I am just blown away by it... it's beautiful. Beautifully written, beautifully characterized, beautifully plotted. (I completely <3 non-linear stories, as you may know, and this one does it SO well!)

It's a Remus/Sirius fic, Fire and Ice, and it's amazing. I've fallen in love with that pairing all over again. <3

Seriously. You all should go read it. The language is a delight, the sparseness of it, the way that it's shown¬-told ... the characterization ... the ending ... I think that someone must know me very very well, to have written this for me. It's just spot-on perfect ... seriously, so much love for this fic. Stop reading this right now, and go read it!
lesyeuxverts: (Serotonin)
Aren't I a lucky girl? *g*

[insanejournal.com profile] westernredcedar wrote Ornithology: The Study of Birds (Sirius/Remus, R) for me - absolutely hilarious, and a perfect, funny, charming Sirius. When I fell in love with movie!Sirius, this is totally who I fell in love with.

(Anyone who makes fun of me for crushing on movie!Sirius will be ... well, unspeakable horrors lie in wait, that's all I'm saying.)

And, as if that wasn't enough to make me completely over-the-top happy, [insanejournal.com profile] sassycissa wrote for me, too! Spring Fever (Harry/Draco, NC-17 ... VERY NC-17, yay!), and it's absolutely fabulous! Draco is the sweetest, tenderest lover ever, and the ending ... well. I won't spoil it for you, but I *will* say that offering up "springtime" as a prompt seems to produce wonderful, smutty, outdoorsy sorts of stories. *g*

(I shall have to try this as an empirical experiment: does offering "springtime" as a prompt always produce such a delightful result? No no no, don't let me run off and sign up for more fests!)

You should also check out the other ficlets at [insanejournal.com profile] 24insanehours, there are lots of fabulous ones ... and then you should join me in wasting the rest of the evening eating caramels and watching "The Vicar of Dibley."
lesyeuxverts: (moon)
If you haven't been watching [insanejournal.com profile] hpvalensmut, then you've definitely missed out on some great fic, but more importantly, you've missed out on the fic that was written for me! It's wonderful, so I absolutely wouldn't want any of you to miss it.

It's There's Not Always a Crowd (Harry/Severus, Bill/Harry/Severus, NC-17, mind the warnings if hot threesomes and general kinkiness aren't to your taste) and it's really just fabulous. A charming, Slytherin minx of a Harry, a possessive!Severus, and Bill wants in on their relationship so badly that you can almost taste it.

Well? What are you doing here? Shoo! Read!
lesyeuxverts: (Christmas book)
Why yes, I do believe that I'm completely caught up, after spending most of the weekend reading ... )

Clearly, I can't read everything (though I do believe I've made a valiant effort at least) ... so if I've missed something wonderful, please let me know that I can read it too? I haven't even had the energy to start with Snupin Santa yet ... there's so much being posted and only so much time ... *cries*
lesyeuxverts: (Remus Sirius)
Eeeee, [insanejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts started posting early, and my gift is posted, and OMG, I'm so happy! (I'm sure the italics/exclamation marks abuse didn't clue you in on that one, oh no it didn't ... let me say it again - so happy!)

[insanejournal.com profile] remeciel drew Grey Elegance for me, and it's Sirius, and it's just gorgeous! Oh, do go and tell her how lovely it is! It's so much better than I could have ever imagined, when I gave that prompt!
lesyeuxverts: (Default)
Oh my goodness, but there have been a lot of fabulous fics these past few days! I'm not reccing anything from [insanejournal.com profile] snarry_holidays for obvious reasons (but of course you all should go there and read everything), but here are a few that I particularly enjoyed from some of the other fests:

From [insanejournal.com profile] hd_holidays:

101 Ways to Heal Your Wizarding Woes (Or, an Unfortunate Incident with a Traffic Cone and a Policeman’s Helmet) - If the title alone doesn't tell you how fabulous and funny this story is, nothing I can say will make a difference, will it?

These Nineteen Years - simply beautiful! There's just so much here, I could look at it forever.

Fade to Silver - Mmmm, just such a wonderful story. Wonderful characters, wonderful plot, wonderful story.

I think I'm falling in love with Drarry ... there have been so many good stories! If you're not following this fest, you definitely should be, because it's been amazing so far.

From [insanejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas:

Healing - Yay, there is Snarry that I can rec, too! And it's completely brilliant and hot and omg guh!

Draco, the Magic Dragon - Another one where the title tells you straight off how funny and fabulous and wonderful it's going to be.

And from [insanejournal.com profile] hp_holidaygen:

A Black Register - Brilliant, completely brilliant. Bittersweet and ohhhh, so painful-in-a-good-way. This is just like a snip out of canon and it's perfect. (Remus, Andromeda, after the first war)

Okay, and I must now get some writing done so that I'm all caught up so that I can continue reading all of these great stories. :)
lesyeuxverts: (kitty hugs)
Happy Thanksgiving, to those of you who are celebrating it - and happy Thursday to those of you who aren't! I hope everyone has a fabulous day ... *hugs all 'round*

Things I am thankful for ... including really hot Snarry art *g* )
lesyeuxverts: (Default)
[insanejournal.com profile] unbroken_halo wrote Snarry for me! Oh, it is so hot and so perfect ... it's made me feel better than all the Amy's No-Chicken Noodle soup and all the cough medicine and all the sleep, it's just that good! You must run over to read it, right now ... unless you are under 17 or are allergic to virtual chocolate or hate Snarry, in which case you're excused. :) It's here: Notihng Else Matters and it's fabulous. I have the biggest grin on my face right now!

Snarry!

lesyeuxverts: (Default)
[insanejournal.com profile] quite_grey wrote Snarry for me, Secret Keeper, a fabulously snarky Snape and a perfect little ficlet ... so good and sweet and amazing. You must go and encourage her to write more Snarry!

[insanejournal.com profile] gingertart50 wrote Lacewing Flies for me, and it is Snarry and perfect and a just omg squee fabulous post-DH Snarry... seriously lovable-to-pieces here, I mean it. You have to read it and tell her how awesome it is. :D

And ... we're down to five spots left for Snarry Holidays, so if you were thinking about signing up, you ought to get a spot while they're still open! Sign ups close Tuesday or when we reach 100...whichever happens first.

On my own twelve-step plan, I am seriously eyeing the Snape/Potter Daft Day smut swap (it was fabulous last year) and HP Holiday gen ... that would only be 3 fests, and that's not too many, right? Right?
lesyeuxverts: (Default)
Okay, a lot of pimpage first:

1. [insanejournal.com profile] phoenix_flies Friending Frenzy has started - hopefully it will go on through the weekend, and so hop on over and make some old friends, meet some new friends, and have fun! And please pimp it for us!

2. [insanejournal.com profile] snarry_holidays sign ups are still open - are you sure you don't want to consider it?

3. After using up all of my willpower resisting [insanejournal.com profile] smutmas and [insanejournal.com profile] harry_holidays, I caved and signed up for [insanejournal.com profile] hpslashnotsmut. *sigh* I thought that signupitis had gone away, and I thought that I would be good, but no ... anyhow, sign-ups close today if you want to think about that, too.

4. For those of you who haven't seen this linked a thousand times already, you should check it out! It really is hilarious!

5. And let me leave you with a rec before I dash off to get some things done this morning: [insanejournal.com profile] magnetic_pole's "Don't Look Back in Anger" series. It starts here and she's posted four parts of ten so far. It's brilliant, an absolute must-read if you love Snape! It starts with a fabulous hook: "There was only one way to enter the headmaster's office: head held high, wand poised, ready to strike." and continues in that brilliant vein. Such an amazing look at Snape's character ... you really must go read it and tell her to post the next part before I go crazy. :D

6. Oh, and before I actually leave you, a gentle poke to my flist - I think I'll be finishing up a couple of things this weekend, if all goes as planned, and might need some beta help. They aren't my usual pairings, so I can't exactly ask my usual Snarry betas ... but if you've some spare time on your hands and are willing to read outside the OTP, maybe you could help me? *puppy dog eyes*

Okay, that's really it now! *hugs*

Thank you so very much! )

So, I don't know if all y'all have been following the ficlet exchange over at [insanejournal.com profile] dh_predictions, but I found a story today that's just brilliant - A Life in Obscurity, but [insanejournal.com profile] rosemaryandrue. It's an absolutely brilliant look at HP (pre-canon, but with DH spoilers) with an Arthurian twist, and I absolutely loved it.

Check out the comm, if you haven't seen it ... claim some of the left-over prompts if you've a mind, or just read the stories. I'm finally feeling good about writing post-DH, mostly thanks to this ... and I posted mine today, so you might go over and check that out too. *g*

You might also check out [insanejournal.com profile] nest_of_spiders, which is doing daily prompts this month. It's all first war/MWPP era, and I'm trying to write a ficlet every day ... we'll see how long I manage it for. In the interest of not-spamming everybody, I won't post them all over here until the end, and then I'll do it in one big post.

There's also a huge list of prompts over at [insanejournal.com profile] omniocular if you feel like writing something DH-compliant ... oh, and also you should check out [insanejournal.com profile] fall_fantasia, I have a feeling that there will be some nice surprises there in the upcoming weeks!

In other news, if you haven't noticed ... my muse is sort of on some sort of bipolar upswing, or on drugs, or having a really, really good flirty time teasing all the boys and drinking absinthe. So I've been super-productive ... it's strange how sometimes she goes away for weeks and then all of a sudden she wants to write a dozen things. Anyhow, I was in lab today and had this really tempting plot-bunny for a post-DH Snarry with with priest!Snape ... but as productive as my muse is being, I can't get to it right away. Oh well ... more fun with ficlets in the meantime. :)

Another rec

Jul. 4th, 2007 09:26 pm
lesyeuxverts: (Default)
Two recs in one day, how cool is that?

[insanejournal.com profile] snarry_fan7 wrote a drabble for me! It's called Thank you and it is so sweet! I just love sweet and tender Snarry as much as I love the angsty, tense variety, and you should all go tell her how awesome it is - and encourage her to write more! Her first drabble written for me - it's more than enough to turn a girl's head, I'm telling you.

Though this is definitely backwards, as I am meant to be thanking her for the fantastic beta, and not the other way around ... Well, I'm working on a sneaky plan for that as soon as my Muse steps away from the rum bottle and back to me! I really, really, really appreciate everyone who has been betaing for me lately - everyone who's betaed for me ever, really, but particularly all the people who put up with my grumping and grousing over the [insanejournal.com profile] reversathon monster. You guys are so awesome, and I want to thank you all, I do!

*sigh* ... off Muse hunting, then. Perhaps I'd better wander over to the alcohol, I might have a better chance of finding her there... ?

Fic rec

Jul. 4th, 2007 11:13 am
lesyeuxverts: (Default)
Okay. So. I wasn't going to rec anything from [insanejournal.com profile] reversathon because it kind of defeats the purpose of an anonymous fest if you rec everything except your own story. Still, I can't resist, because this story is worth a rec for every word (11,000, give or take). It is absolutely fabulous, and if all y'all don't drop your picnic plans to read it immediately, and tell the author how much you love her ... well, I don't know what I'll do with you, mostly likely I'll just throw my hands up in despair.

Borrowed Magic. Go. Read. Now. It's amazing.

I've obviously lost the ability to be coherent, so here's the author's fic summary and whatnot:

Pairing(s)/Threesome/Character: Severus/Harry/Draco
Rating: R-ish
Warnings: No real smut, illness/disability fic, some bad language, a pesky ambiguous ending
Request: I would love to see a Snape/Harry/Draco post-war fic with a fluid timeline, established relationship but flashing back to wartime and the gradual formation of their relationship. Erratic timelines, out-of-order scenes, and a gradually unravelling plot are favourites of mine, and long fics are love though by no means necessary. Also, feel free to include sex, though I prefer that as an accessory rather than the focus of the story. If you do, I'm a huge fan of desperate rushed half-clothed sex, sloppy kissing, hair-pulling, biting/marking, power struggles, eye contact, makeshift restraint, and so on.
Summary: What is magic? Where does it come from? These questions plague Harry as he, Severus and Draco work through life, magic, and love in the face of Harry’s devastating illness.
